Los Angeles City Hall

Seismic retrofit of early the 20th century Los Angeles icon. Work included restoration and replacement of existing terracotta, historic interior marble (including a nationwide search to locate original marble slabs for reinstallation). Cleaning and restoration of historical surfaces including masonry, terra cotta, marble and granite all under the oversight of Los Angeles Historic Preservation Committee. Carrara worked hand-in-hand with historical preservationists to achieve intent for historical fabric through an incredibly meticulous catalogue-document-salvage (cat-doc-sal) process to preserve the historical and functional integrity of every piece.
